Playing with scraps ~

With summer coming to an end, and me heading back to work, and our days - hotter than hot, I haven't been in the mood to do much sewing. I did manage to make a Christmas quilt that still needs a backing, a lap quilt that still needs a backing and a little wall hanging that still needs finishing. The fun news is that ...The San Diego Quilt Show will be here in a few weeks, maybe that's what I need to get me going again! Just a peek of the wall hanging ~~

Design Wall ~

After reading Marianne's blog  (thequiltingedge )  about making a design wall - I decided to give it a try.
Although I did mine a bit different. I used one long insulation board 3/4 x 4' x 8' and cut it to 5' x 6' and  instead of using batting I used felt, because that is what I already had. My problem is that- where I use the duct tape to tape the insulation board together, The tape, shows through the felt, you can see it at the bottom of the picture.
Other then that- I really like it!
Thank you Marianne!
Ya all should give it a try - pretty easy!

Tiare Style.....

There are cute little island boutiques that I love walking through. I found beautiful quilts, that were designed on Maui, but made in Bali. The colors are inspired by Hawaii flora.

Converging Corners Quilt ~

I finished the converging corners quilt, except for the quilting and I'm not sure how to quilt this one. I used Filminthefridge's converging corners tutorial. When I saw hers, I knew that I wanted to make one too. I decided to use my stash of Tula Pink's, Parisville that has been in my closet for a few years. I'm glad I did, I really like it. The  pictures really don't do it justice, we've had SUNNY  days here in San Diego and its really hard to get good pictures in the bright sunshine. This quilt will be going to  a friend of mine in Maui, can't wait to give it to her!
